We’re back!

After a brief hiatus and kitchen-scouting period, Sweet Release is back with avengence! Look for us this Saturday, April 28th at Market Square in St. Catharines. We’ll be on hand with our addictive cream cheese sugar cookies. Look for some new products in the coming weeks. Think brownies and cupcakes…  mmmmm.

We’re growing all the time, and to that end, it pleases me very much to let you know that we’ve begun baking out of a larger kitchen, far better equipped to deal with the dozens and dozens of cookies that have been flying out the door in the past few months. A huge thank you to Joanne at Gabriele’s Custom Catering for finding space for us. If you’re throwing a party or having a get-together of any kind, Joanne is your go-to gal for cabbage rolls, pasta and all kinds of other full-on home-cooked meals. I’d also like to take some time to thank all of those people who come out to the market for cookies and who hunt me down in search of cakes and other sweet treats. Without your support, this whole adventure would not be possible.

Spring has Sprung!

Okay, so there might still be snow on the ground, and the winter wind still nibbles at your nose now and then, but here at Sweet Release, spring has arrived. Our new line of much-loved cream cheese cookies have sprouted beautiful spring blooms. St. Patrick’s Day is also on it’s way and Sweet Release has got you covered. When you find that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, you can rest assured that sitting on top of the booty will be a half dozen cookies from Sweet Release!

Fine! I’m Going Home!

Valentine’s Day is fast upon us (I’m not kidding this time). The cream cheese heart cookies are a huge hit. They sell out fast, so if you want a sweet treat for your sweet, head down to Market Square on Tuesday, February13th. And be early. On Saturday I was all but sold out by NOON! Noon, I say. So don’t delay!

Toque, eh?

Tuesday, February 6th is Toque Tuesday and the Mayor’s pancake breakfast. Purchase a $10 toque at Market Square and receive a free Pancake Breakfast, served up by our Mayor. It’s a great morning, and the money raised will be used in the fight against homelessness. I’ll be on hand with some special cookies (and your old favourites). Proceeds from each cookie will be donated to the campaign.

Valentine’s Day

Okay, so Valentine’s day is about a week and a half away. Cookies are flying off the table, in singles and half-dozens, so come down to Market Square and place your order to avoid disappointment. Have a special message for special Valentine? I can even personalize cookies for you. Cookies, as always, are $1 each or half a dozen for $5. It’s a delicious treat for someone special. And just for Valentine’s Day, I’ll deliver those cookies right to home or office. Surprise!

Ahead of the Game (of Love)

Sure, it’s only January but the R & D team has been hard at work on Valentines items for all you loyal Sweet Release customers. I was at Market Square this Saturday with a bit of a sneak preview of the cookies that I will be offering in celebration of Cupid’s Official Holiday. Don’t worry if Valentines isn’t your shtick. I’ve got you covered with some anti-Valentines Day items too. We’re also testing out new recipes for bark, and are thinking seriously about a line of muffins.

Okay, not that far up. Just enough to see the little navigation bar underneath my banner. There you will find a link to the Cake Gallery. I’ve posted a number of photos of the work I have done over the past few years. it certainly isn’t everything. More photos can be found at helloCakes!, where I act as the head (and sole) pastry chef.

I should also point out that what you see in the gallery is certainly NOT exclusively what you get. As a bride, or a party planner, you may already have a vision of the type of cake or dessert that you would like to feature. That’s fabulous, and I see it as my job to work with you on that vision to make it a reality.  Conversely, if you don’t have a single idea, I always have suggestions.
